Considerations
Referees across the state are frequently subjected to verbal abuse from volunteers and spectators concerning disputed calls.
Referees are human and will make mistakes. No doubt.
But...Many volunteers and especially spectators do not know the game rules.
And...Most do not know how TASO instructs the Referees to call a game.
Please read the TASO 3-Man Mechanics. Read where the Referees are standing and what they are told to look for. Read the TASO Philosophies starting p. 52 as it explains how the Referees should call the game.
Example: p.58 Holding... "There must be a clear and visible material restriction: a pull, a yank, or a jerk."
Example: p.62 Targeting... "When in question, it is a foul."
While volunteers and spectators may be screaming the Referees are "blind" or do not know the rules, it actually could be the Referees are following the rules!
