Rule 5 - Contact
Rule 5 - Contact
Except where noted these are called as NCAA would.
Cut Block is Legal
Allowed in the tackle box (5 yards left and 5 yards right of the center).
OL may cut to the front or side (but can't clip).
Anyone in the backfield in the box:
Who is stationary at the snap of the ball; and
Cuts the oncoming defensive player to their front ONLY.
Chop Block (High-Low) is Illegal because it is Cut Blocking a defender already engaged by another player.
Inside the box while in motion or outside the tackle box on scrimmage plays is prohibited.
[TYFA Adjustment]:
If a player having to go to the sideline for one play causes a team to fall below the ON-FIELD Minimum of Eligible Players (11 for Tackle), and there are no other players on the sideline, the player may stay in. The Referees will penalize the team for Delay of Game (5) but will allow the game to continue without a forfeit.
[TYFA Adjustment]:
If there is any question as to targeting a defenseless player, the first offense would be a Personal Foul (15) instead of an ejection because we do not have Instant Replay.
A Blocker must be on his feet while blocking.
All Lineman, except the Center, may not be in a 3-point stance or otherwise spring from a coiled or crouching start. Instead, they will simply stand at the line of scrimmage (2-point stance acceptable) and await the snap.
The Center, though crouching, must first stand up before attempting to block a rusher or will be penalized as an Illegal Block (5).
Linemen may use their hands to block. The Linemen must have their arms straight out in front of them (with hands open) and may only make contact with the defensive player’s shoulders, arms and chest.
Cross body, roll blocking, punch blocking, elbowing, knee blocking or hands to the head area is prohibited. Drive blocking (offensive player making legal contact with a defender but continually pushing them backwards more than 3 yards) is prohibited for safety reasons. Any violation will be penalized as a Personal Foul (15).
There will be no interlocking blocking which will be penalized as an Illegal Block (5).
When a player is rendered or seemingly rendered unconscious, or staggering like they have a concussion, they shall not be permitted to resume participation for the remainder of the game.
If removing the player from the field drops the team under the ON FIELD MINIMUM, follow the ON FIELD MINIMUM procedure.
If a team falls below the minimum eligible players (7xflag, 11xtackle):
This means a team does not have 7xFlag or 11xTackle players who are eligible to play for that team, have no injuries or equipment issues preventing them from playing.
The team must call a timeout if they have one. They may use all of them back-to-back for this situation.
If they do not have a timeout, the Referees will call 1xReferee timeout, but will penalize the team a Delay of Game (5).
If issue is INJURY
If at the end of the timeouts the team cannot get the minimum eligible players back on the field, the game will be declared a Forfeit.
When in doubt, sit them out. If the Referees believe a player is being forced onto the field to avoid a forfeit but is hurting or could have a concussion, the can deny the player the ability to get back on the field. - Safety first!
If issue is Equipment
If at the end of the timeouts the team cannot get the minimum eligible players back on the field, the game will be declared a Forfeit.
This would apply to wrong Facemask types, dark visors, wrong cleats, and bloody jerseys that cannot be replaced in time.
The Grace Period CANNOT be used for this.
