Volunteer Dress Code
TYFA requires all certified volunteers to look professional while at an Official TYFA Event.
Official TYFA Events are not a leisure day out at the park.
Dress codes enforce decorum and a serious, professional atmosphere and eliminate individualistic attire that can distract from common goals.
Baseball Hats, Visors, and Bush Hats are allowed.
Any hat that has a "bill" must be facing forward.
Any hat must be within the organization color scheme or neutral color.
Do-Rags, Bandanas, Hard Plastic or similar are prohibited.
Any Hat with holes, rips, frays, or is dirty, is prohibited.
Polos, Button Ups, Pull Overs and T-Shirts are allowed.
Any combination of Polos, Button Ups or Pull Overs are acceptable.
Tops do not have to be tucked in.
Any top must be within the organization color scheme or neutral color.
There are 4 groups on the football sideline:
Head Coach who can have their own color top.
Assistant Coaches (trainees included) who can have their own color top; but all assistants must have the same.
Support Staff (photographers and team managers) who can have their own color top; but all support staff must have the same.
Board Members can have their own color top; but all board members must have the same.
Example: HC wears Black top, Assistants ALL wear red, Support Staff ALL wear white, and any visiting Board Members wear Gray.
T-Shirts are treated as colors and can be on some groups and not on others.
Example: HC and Assistant Coaches can be in their polo shirts and the Support Staff could ALL be in a T-Shirt.
Bare Midriff, spaghetti strap, tank top, muscle, "wife beater", revealing, suggestive, overly tight, or overly loose tops are prohibited.
Compression wear cannot be worn AS a top, but may be worn under an accepted top.
Any Top with holes, rips, frays, or is dirty, is prohibited.
Wind Suites are allowed as long as all who are wearing them are wearing the SAME wind suite.
Pants, Dresses, Skorts, Shorts or Skirts are allowed.
Any combination of Pants, Dresses, Skorts, Shorts or Skirts are acceptable.
Skorts, Skirts and Shorts cannot be shorter than mid-thigh.
Cargo pants and Capri Pants are acceptable.
Basketball shorts, yoga pants, sagging pants (e.g., pockets below the buttocks) are prohibited.
Bottoms must be within the organization color scheme or neutral color.
The Head Coach sets the color of the bottoms. If they select Black for example, ALL sideline personnel must be in black bottoms.
Leggings, tights, and spandex may not be worn as a bottom, but may be worn underneath an accepted bottom.
Jegging and Sweat Pants are prohibited.
Any Bottom with holes, rips, frays, or is dirty, is prohibited.
Wind Suites are allowed as long as all who are wearing them are wearing the SAME wind suite.
There are no restrictions on color.
Bare feet, thong flip-flops, Crocs, shower shoes, Sliders, slippers, or anything similar in nature are prohibited.
Cowboy Boots are allowed as long as they are not "loud or boisterous."
Heals are prohibited.
All below are prohibited.
Unconventional hairstyles such as spiked or a mohawk.
Displaying tattoos that promote sex, violence, and gang affiliation.
Face or body paint.
Tasteless or not youth appropriate piercing.
This applies to the Cheer Competition as well
During the Football Semi-Finals and State Championships the following modifies the dress code stated above.
Dress Slacks, Cargo Pants, Skirts and Dresses are the only bottoms allowed. No Skorts or Shorts.
Wind Suites are allowed as long as all who are wearing them are wearing the SAME wind suite.
TYFA will allow Military, Fire, Police and EMT personnel to wear their work uniform on the sidelines instead of the organization’s approved uniform when necessary.
No waiver is required. // This exception does not cover UPS, FedEx, US Postal Service, or any other jobs.
Volunteers are permitted to wear cold weather attire such as jackets, pullovers, sweatshirts, and cold weather undergarments. Cold weather attire must be in the organization’s color scheme or neutral colors, and if logoed, must be youth and sport appropriate. No waiver is required to wear cold weather attire.
The purpose of this policy is to promote awareness and support for ALL cancers within TYFA, Spring and Fall, regardless of the level of public attention or popularity associated with a particular type of cancer.
Volunteers are permitted to wear Accessories in the appropriate colors to show support for a specific cancer causes.
Accessories for example are hats, visors, socks, wristbands, and similar items in cancer awareness colors.
Teams/organizations are not permitted to change their primary uniform (top or bottom) to show recognition.
Items should be worn in a way that does not distract from the the team's "primary uniform".
Simultaneous recognition of multiple cancers is acceptable provided it is done in a tasteful and respectful manner.
Organizations should refer to established cancer awareness color guidelines for specific types of cancer.
If cancer awareness items pose a safety hazard, they may be restricted. Items cannot be pinned or attached to the game uniform with any material that may cause injury to the wearer or their opponents.
Volunteers cannot be forced to participate, and a team is still uniformed if some participate and some do not.
The purpose of this policy is to allow organizations to memorialize someone or some event both Spring and Fall.
Volunteers are permitted to wear accessories to show support for someone or some event.
Accessories for example are hats, visors, socks, wristbands, and similar items.
Teams may wear patches and similar items.
If events are memorialized, they cannot be religious or political in nature. They must be youth appropriate.
Teams/organizations are not permitted to change their primary uniform (top or bottom) to show recognition.
Items should be worn in a way that does not distract from the the team's "primary uniform".
Simultaneous recognition of persons or events is acceptable provided it is done in a tasteful and respectful manner.
